Blogging for Business

As I expect reading this blog you will have realised that I like blogging for my business as I’ve been doing it for several years, I recently wrote a post about business blogs and why I think it is such a great idea and I was very pleased to be featured in Joanne Dewberry’s blogging booklet titled ‘Blogging for Business’.

Unlike several other books I’ve heard about recently this booklet isn’t just about ‘making money from your blog’ but more about using a blog to benefit your business.

The booklet starts with a brief explanation of why you should blog for your business and outlines the different blog platforms that you can use to get yourself started. Then there are whole host of fantastic ideas to help you think of topics for posts (along with my top 5 tips), information about scheduling posts, feedback from other small business owners about why they blog, tips to help you be a better writer, on SEO, social media and how to make your blog look beautiful. Plus there is a section on monetising your blog itself by getting advertising or selling your writing space.

This is a great booklet for anyone who is thinking of starting a blog for their business and I found it interesting to read the reasons why the other small businesses blog which points out why there is a benefit to all of them even party plan businesses. For those who are already blogging I’m sure there are lots of useful tips that you could use too – I can’t wait to sit down again with the page of ideas to help you develop topics for posts and to get scheduling posts ahead of time again.

    1. Ann blogging is a great way to drive traffic to your website not only in terms of prospective orders but also PR wise. I have been called up at last minute to give comment on mums in business by both Wave105 FM ( a local station ) and Bournemouth University Radio both found me via google search which brought up my blog 🙂

  1. Just like Ann, I have intended to start blogging for a long time but have not been able to get off the starting block. This is probably because I have three separate objectives. Firstly, I would like to build stronger relationships with my customers and become their first port of call when stocking up on greeting cards. Secondly, I would like to encourage entrepreneurs to look seriously at network marketing (and Phoenix Yrading in particlar) as a business opportunity. Finally, I would like to use blogging as a training tool for my team.

    1. There is no problem using your blog for all three purposes – if you put stuff in appropriate categories – your readers will be able to find what they desire effectively.

If you want to discuss blogging further give me a shout love 🙂

  2. As a new web designer working mainly with wordpress I’m still learning about the benefits of blogging. I have a blog that hasn’t been too active up till and know that I need to concentrate more on my own blog to drive more potential customers to my own business. I also hope that it will help me pass on my own experiences of blogging to any clients for their benefit and to improve their site traffic.

    1. At Lucy – definitely having your own working blog enables you to provide vital information and the ins and outs to clients. #TeamJD & I write content for a variety of other blogs too. I also prefer wordpress.org as a blog platform 🙂

      Good luck x

  3. As you know, Elaine, I blog regularly; but I would really like to understand how I can change my blogging so it helps to bring in more business for me. I do it because I love it; but ultimately because I want it to help the business too 🙂

I don’t have a problem blogging – its making sure what I blog about brings in the visitors and customers!
