National Childcare Week

This week is (2nd-9th July) is National Childcare Week organised by the Daycare Trust which aims to promote the importance of childcare, extended schools, and early years provision for children which helps to strengthen children’s play and learning to provide a good foundation for their future.

This year’s theme is ‘Families in Focus’ and throughout the week the Childcare Trust are are promoting the benefits of engaging the whole family, including dads and grandparents, in childcare settings. Throughout the week Children’s Centres, school clubs and nurseries will be taking part in the ‘Big Breakfast Bonanza’ and encouraging the whole family to take part and enjoy this meal together – why not find out what your local ones are doing?

I’m lucky as a mum running my own business that I can work around my children and not need formal childcare (apart from the four year old having a few extra lunchtimes / afternoons at his school nursery) but I know that most working parents are not so lucky – please add your comments as to what childcare you use and why – it would be good to find out more about people’s experiences.
