Children’s Book Week

This week (1st -7th October) is Children’s Book Week 2012 and the theme is ‘Heroes and Heroines’ taking takes roles common in children’s fiction and asking children to think about what makes a person heroic and who are their heroes and heroines.

So this week first of all we’re celebrating books – over the summer we shared our 20 favourite books in four posts (you can see them here, herehere and here) and I’d recommend any of these books to your children’s book lists.

In terms of heroes and heroines from books – Horrid Henry and Dirty Bertie are both heroes in my book as they are the two book characters that really got the two biggest Littlesheeps reading independently. Middle Littlesheep would say that Julia Donaldson (author of The Gruffalo and other stories) is his book heroine as he absolutely loves her books – here is his author factfile that he completed for homework recently:
